Enose Based Realtime Food Quality Monitoring System
Adulteration in food products is a widespread problem in India. Not only does it provide substandard products at a higher cost, but it can potentially be a health hazard to consumers of food products. Presently, India's top regulatory and food safety body, FSSAI , is primarily responsible for conducting random sampling and testing. According to FSSAI's countrywide testing, over 26% of all food categories and more than 30% of edible oil samples were found to be adulterated. This shows the severity and pervasiveness of the problem. Clearly, this problem has affected all our lives on some level.
Esniff Devices is committed to fighting against this deep-rooted problem. We are bringing a small, handheld device that is easy to use and affordable for a large cross-section of the Indian population. Our device pairs with a smartphone and can operate inside homes, shops, and any other place where instant purity test results are required. The device will be small enough to be carried anywhere without difficulty. This powerful tool in the hands of consumers will provide them peace of mind and ensure quality food items.
We are utilizing a mature technology, called electronic nose or e-nose. There is no such commercial product available for an individual customer today. Our objective is to provide a high-quality e-nose device that is accessible to everyone at an affordable price, thus ensuring its widespread availability. In pursuit of our goal, we are targeting five major food groups that encompass a majority of food items:
Coffee, tea,
and other beverages
We are value as a commonly used commodity in Indian cuisine, but its adulteration poses detrimental effects on various levels within our society. Not only does it harm consumers, but it also compels farmers to abandon cultivating the Mustard crop, exacerbating the issue.
Our project follows a milestone-based approach, which helps to minimize risks. The initial year is dedicated to developing a fully functional prototype. During this phase, we will focus on the hardware, firmware, cloud-based libraries, dedicated machine learning and artificial intelligence (ML, AI) models, smartphone app, and IT infrastructure. There is a significant demand for safe and healthy food, and consumers are willing to pay a premium price for it. We aim to empower individuals to ensure that the quality of the food they purchase is commensurate with its price tag.
Furthermore, our target demographics encompass end-users of food products, individuals involved in the food supply chain, food preparers, businesses engaged in food manufacturing, and food delivery companies. The subsequent phase will involve commercialization and early-stage marketing, where our device will be optimized for the Indian markets. The potential market is substantial, and we currently have no competitors. Existing e-nose devices are highly specialized and prohibitively expensive for consumer applications. Our goal is to launch the product within two years, and we are fully prepared to proceed with the venture!
